I work with materials in a repetitive and dense manner. I revel in creating systems of stacking materials such as fabric, paper, wood, or metal by linking, overlapping, and layering objects together in a jury-rigged fashion. While using ink or charcoal in drawings, I add and replace constantly, sometimes pushing the paper to breakage. Having my hand in all aspects of the work is crucial because it is bound to my predilections and integral to the work’s dynamism. I strive to honor my system of making, which is haphazard and intuitive, delicate and problematic, and valuable for its un-prescribed outcome.
